No, we won’t see the new Toyota Land Cruiser in the US. That’s had many fans sad, but we will get the nameplate’s luxurious cousin on our shores, and it’s coming very soon. On Friday, Lexus announced the 2022 LX will make its debut on Oct. 13. The LX has long been the brand’s own take on the big SUV with far posher materials and a more luxurious aura. This one should absolutely keep that trend with major updates to boot.
We’ll likely see tons of other improvements from this SUV, again judging by what we saw from the new Land Cruiser. But we don’t have much longer to wait.
Toyota Land Cruiser 2022 Interior: Cargo & Seating Options
The 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser has three rows of seats for up to eight passengers. With all three rows in place, it can accommodate 16.1 cubic feet of cargo in the rear. If you fold that third row down, you have 41.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.
If you only need to use the first row seats for one or two passengers, you can fold the second and third rows to open the new Toyota Land Cruiser 2022 interior to a maximum of 82.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

Toyota claims the 2022 Land Cruiser is 441 pounds lighter than the old model, which we weighed at 5,774 pounds in five-seat configuration and 5,874 pounds in standard seven-seat configuration. Toyota claims to have also lowered the center of gravity and improved the weight distribution, although its reported 53/47 percent weight distribution matches that of the last 200 Series Land Cruiser we tested.
Also assisting off-road are a pair of electronic aides: Multi-Terrain Monitor and Multi-Terrain Select. The former is a camera system that allows the driver to see obstacles that may be obscured by the hood or other parts of the vehicle. The latter automatically changes the drive mode based on the terrain rather than requiring the driver to do it manually.

The Toyota Land Cruiser is being retired from the US market due to dwindling sales, but the reputable off-roader is an immense commercial success in other parts of the world. The new LC300 has already racked up more than 22,000 preorders in Japan where the automaker appears to be preventing customers from reselling the SUV.
According to local magazine Creative311, owners must sign on the dotted line and agree not to resell the vehicle. It is believed customers are barred from doing so for 12 months after taking delivery of the Land Cruiser, and if that happens, they won’t be allowed to buy another Toyota. It’s unclear how long the ban lasts, but there seem to be some serious repercussions.
Why is the company taking this drastic measure? For a number of reasons. It obviously wants to avoid situations in which the original buyers flip it for a profit by taking advantage of how popular the Land Cruiser is in certain regions. Toyota is also trying as much as possible to have SUVs available for people who actually want to buy them for themselves by limiting the number of units sold to a client to one.

Toyota Land Cruiser Trim Levels
The 2022 Land Cruiser 300 comes with four trim levels called the Base GX, GXL, VX, and Sahara. The GXL and above offer blind-spot monitoring and a rear cross-traffic alarm.
The touchscreen infotainment system on the GX and GXL models has grown from 6.1 inches to 9.0 inches, while the VX and higher versions get an even larger 12.3-inch unit.
The seven-seat GXL supports wireless phone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and select Toyota off-road driving modes.
The top variant Sahara has a front display screen, a JBL sound system with 14 speakers, a heated steering wheel, and an electrically folding third row.

Inside, theres a comfortable blend of old and new. Sitting proudly atop the dashboard is a 12.3 infotainment unit, which is connected up to a 14-speaker JBL audio system. Beneath are extra-large physical buttons and switches for the climate controls, plus the heated/ventilated seats. Framing the outside of climate controls are metallic-textured, hard buttons for the infotainment. Although extra-large physical controls can clutter an interior, theyre designed to be easily operated with gloves on.
Moving down the centre console, youll find controls for the high/low range, crawl control, and a large drive mode selector dial on the right bezel. Toyotas also chucked in a CD player for good measure.
Next to the gear stick is a wireless phone charger, which my Samsung S10+ would fully occupy. Hopefully, mobile devices dont continue to increase in size.

It turns out that Americans wont be the only ones denied the redesigned 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser. Reports indicate an extensive waiting list in certain overseas markets may mean some would-be Land Cruiser buyers wont get theirs for at least a couple of years.
Australian publication Cars Guide says Toyota blames the global chip shortage for a wait of up to four years to deliver certain configurations of the new Land Cruiser. According to Cars Guide, just 5,000 300-Series Land Cruisers have been built, and the automaker has at least 20,000 orders to fill. The first models are expected to land in that market traditionally one of the Land Cruisers strongest next month. Sales will also commence in the Middle East, Africa, and parts of Asia.
Toyota dropped the legendary Land Cruiser from its U.S.-market lineup for 2022 due to weak demand for a $90,000-plus SUV. Instead, the automaker plans to concentrate on the Lexus version, called the LX, which will be redesigned for 2022.
