• You will find that Celebrity Cruises attracts a diverse range of cruise travelers. Most of the onboard activities are designed to appeal to people in their mid-30s to 50 years old. A number of programs onboard also attract the interests of children and teens. More families choose to sail on Celebrity during school vacations, or during the summer months. The longer voyages attract people who are older, or who have retired. Be advised that children who are younger than one year old cannot sail on trans-Pacific, trans-Atlantic, or South American cruises, or any cruise that requires 3+ days consecutively at sea. Otherwise, for all other cruise schedules, passengers must be at least 6 months old. Passengers must be at least 21 years old for any voyage leaving North America, or 18 years old for cruises traveling from Europe, Asia, Australia, South America, and New Zealand. The cruise line is happy to assist passengers with special medical needs. Celebrity Summit Bermuda Cruise Review

This was our 16th cruise, but our first Celebrity Cruise. We had heard many positives about Celebrity and were excited to finally have the opportunity to sail on the Summit. We had hoped to try one of the larger, newer Celebrity Ships, but this one fit our preferred travel dates and destinations, so it worked! I should mention, that we have sailed to Bermuda a couple times before and we just love Bermuda. I could go every year and never have enough. If you are considering Bermuda, Book It!!

First let me say that we loved this cruise! It will be an honest review with some pros and cons, as well as filled with a few tips for ship and itinerary but I can tell you right now that I highly recommend the Celebrity Summit as a fabulous Bermuda cruise!

Cruise Lines Cancel Bermuda Calls Over Continued Covid

Two of the world’s biggest cruise lines have canceled upcoming calls in Bermuda, citing the island’s ongoing COVID-19 testing requirements.

Celebrity Cruises has canceled visits to Bermuda in October and November scheduled for four ships: Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Silhouette, Celebrity Edge and Celebrity Reflection. The vessels had been set to visit the island on Oct. 22, Oct. 30-31, Nov. 4 and Nov. 10, respectively.

Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled Bermuda calls scheduled for three ships: Norwegian Sun, Norwegian Escape and Norwegian Gem. The vessels had been set to visit the island on Nov. 5, Nov. 15 and Dec. 20, respectively.

All seven of the visits were scheduled to take place during long transatlantic voyages that begin in Europe and end in North America.

Unlike most cruise destinations around the world, Bermuda continues to require passengers on such long voyages to submit to supervised onboard COVID-19 testing as their vessels approach the island.

Specifically, Bermuda requires onboard COVID-19 testing for all passengers on any ship that takes longer than four days to arrive at the island from its origination port. The tests must take place within two days of the ship’s arrival in Bermuda.

Passengers on such ships also must fill out an online form and pay a $40 per person fee to the Bermuda government.

More Inclusive Celebrity Cruising

Celebrity Cruises recently announced that they will be rolling the cost of wifi, drinks, and gratuities into the cruise fare. In an email to travel partners in November, the line said We know planning most cruises can be complicated. But, were not most cruises were Celebrity Cruises. Thats why now, when you book any cruise, anywhere, in any stateroom, we include drinks, Wi-Fi, and tips with your vacation. Its that simple.

Celebrity is still not completely inclusive, as it doesnt include extras like specialty dining, but this seemingly permanent move is a step in that direction.

Note that this more inclusive structure does not apply to Galapagos Islands sailings.
