Emily Blunt claims Tom Cruise gave her some unconventional yet motivating advice when they worked together on Edge of Tomorrow.
The actress, now 39, recalled her Hollywood co-star delivering some tough love on the set of the 2014 action flick, a departure from her typical rom-com fare. She said Cruise told her to stop being such a py as she struggled with her 85-pound costume.
We had to wear these enormous suits, which I think wouldve been great if we had CGId them, but we wanted to do it in a tactile way, she revealed on the SmartLess podcast on an episode dropping Monday, per news reports.
When you hear the word tactile, you think that sounds nice and cozy. There was nothing cozy about these suits. It was like 85 pounds. It was so heavy, she continued. The first time I put it on I started to cry, and didnt know what to do.
Blunt said Cruise stared at her as she got more panicked about donning the heavy suit.
I was like, Tom, Im not sure how Im going to get through this shoot, and just started to cry, she admitted. I said, Im feeling a bit panicky about the whole shoot.’
Cruises alleged response had The Devil Wears Prada star weeping again but in a good way.
He just stared at me for a long time, not knowing what to do, and he goes, Come on, stop being such a py, OK?’ she said, adding it caught her off guard and made her laugh.

New Cruise Ship Deal Will Bring $100m 200k Tourists To Nyc: Mayor Adams
A European cruise lines expansion plans will bring an annual $102 million in new revenue to New York City as well as more than 200,000 additional tourists per year, Mayor Adams predicted Wednesday.
Under the new deal, MSC Cruises will operate out of the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal year-round beginning next year, with voyages to Florida, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada and New England.
We are really excited about that, said Adams, steps away from the USS Intrepid on Pier 88 at 12th Ave. and W. 48th St. in Manhattan. This is a real boost to our economy, a boost to tourism and a boost to contributing to our local communities. So we are thrilled MSC Cruises is dropping its anchor in New York.
The Switzerland-headquartered MSC will hire a minimum of 150 people to work out of the cruise terminal with salaries of $20 an hour, according to Adams. Overall, he predicted the companys presence would create up to 10,000 full-time jobs in the city.
MSC is also donating $236,000 to the Parks Departments GreenThumb program and to the citys .
The cruise industry is a crucial part of New York Citys economy, supporting thousands of jobs across the city in the maritime, tourism and entertainment sectors, said Andrew Kimball, president of the citys Economic Development Corporation. We estimate that MSCs offerings will increase the number of passengers in New York by 20%, generating upwards of $100 million in local spending.
Adams clearly enjoyed the announcement on Wednesday.
