Using Your Gift Card On A Carnival Cruise

There are several ways you can use a gift card on a Carnival cruise. If you are buying a cruise, gift cards can be applied to the fare price, but cannot be used to pay port fees or taxes on the fare.

If you have already booked your cruise but havent yet paid the fare in full, you can still apply gift cards to the remaining balance. Up to 9 gift cards can be applied to your cruise in a single transaction session if you have more than 9 cards to redeem, you will need to do so in multiple transactions to use them all.

If you have already paid for your next Carnival cruise, it isnt too late to use gift cards. If you opt to prepay for shore tours or spa treatments, gift cards can be applied to those costs.

You can also use a gift card to set up your onboard spending account, but will need to do that once you are on board your ship simply visit the Guest Services desk to make the arrangements. From the onboard account, the gift card will help cover any charges you add up during your cruise vacation, from buying drinks and pictures to shore tours, gift shop items, jewelry or even gratuities.

It must be noted that Carnival Cruise Line gift cards are not valid on sailings that use non-United States currency onboard. Cruises departing from Australia, then, cannot use gift cards. If you arent sure about the currency used on your cruise, you can contact your travel agent or Carnival Cruise Line to ask.

Carnival Cruise Lines Gift Cards Terms & Conditions

The terms and conditions of gift cards are stated on the cruise lines websites, but here are some of the most important considerations to make before purchasing.

• Customers can purchase closed-loop prepaid cards from Carnival or EZ PIN.
• There is no expiration date on standard gift cards.
• Gift Cards cannot be resold once they have been activated, and they are not refundable or redeemed for cash, except as required by law.

I have purchased discounted Disney gift cards in the past for Disney cruises. One word of caution: If you have to cancel your cruise , the refund goes to the gift cards. Its not the same as getting a cash refund.

Princess specifies Digital gift cards redeemed by Canadian residents can only be used towards cruise passage for bookings made in US Dollars. Royal Caribbean notes that gift cards must be redeemed ahead of time, especially for payment toward the cruise fare. They also specify that if a reservation is paid in full, then the gift certificate can not be used as payment towards a cruise vacation, and will be applied to onboard credit as long as it is applied 10 business days prior to the sail date.

Shipping for traditional plastic gift cards can be slow and expensive. For example, Norwegian estimates that cards can take up to 14 business days when mailed. Expedited is $15.95 with 6 day shipping, which is pricey if purchasing a $25 gift card.
