Disney Dream Overview
Disney Dream is the 3rd Disney Cruise Line cruise ship operated by The Walt Disney Company and has been active since 2011. The ship currently sails three-day, four-day, and sometimes five-day cruises to the Bahamas. It has a capacity of 2,500 or 4,000 passengers maximum and has a crew of 1,458. Disney Dream is 1,114 ft in length and has a gross tonnage of 83,000.
Routes: With the arrival of the Disney Wish, the Disney Dream is no longer primarily based at Port Canaveral, Florida. It now offers 3, 4, and 5-night Bahamas cruises from Port Miami, along with multiple European itineraries of 4-11 nights departing from Barcelona, Civitavecchia , Copenhagen, and Southampton.
Overall, the Disney Dream is a fantastic cruise ship. Its not our absolute favorite but theres really not much to complain about.

Disney Dream onboard activities include digital sports simulators, a 9-hole mini-golf course, a full-sized basketball court, a volleyball court, a pitch, and a walking track.
Disney Wonder is also home to a water roller coaster called the AquaDuck, Mickeys Slide, and has three pools. The ship also boasts two theaters: the Walt Disney Theater, and the Buena Vista Theater .

Hideaway Beach At Perfect Day At Cococay
Hideaway Beach, an adults-only area of Perfect Day at CocoCay, is currently being constructed and set to open in mid to late 2023. The islands capacity is predicted to increase by 2,000 3,000 guests following the completion of Hideaway Beach.
The beach is located to the west of the islands pier, adjacent to CocoCays Thrill Waterpark. The western side of the island is still undeveloped aside from storage and housing for some crew members, so this is the first project to expand Perfect Day at CocoCay on that side of the island.
Most details about Hideaway Beach are still unknown, including whether or not the beach will be complimentary and what facilities will be located at Hideaway Beach.

New Disney Cruise Ship Rumors
New Disney Private Island?
With the announcement of three new ships, DCL will be increasing its fleet from four to seven total ships on the seas.
This will put extra stress and demand on the crowning experience of Disney’s Caribbean itineraries: Castaway Cay.
As such, Disney has been rumored to be scouring the Bahamas in search of “new Castaway Cay” to purchase. This would add a new Disney private island as a destination where its expanded fleet can take its passengers for a magical beach diversion.
Disney Cruise Line has officially put forth a proposal to develop the area of Lighthouse Point, Eleuthera in the Bahamas Initially, there was a group that actively campaigned against the development of Lighthouse Point.
DCL’s proposal to develop 746-acres to build a cruise port was tentatively approved in October 2018.
Jeff Vahle, president of Disney Cruise Line, said Disney looks “forward to working with government and the people of the Bahamas to create new economic opportunities while preserving the natural beauty of Lighthouse Point.”
New Disney Port in Bahamas?
Instead of constructing a new private island, Disney Cruise Line decided to purchase expansive property on an existing Bahamian island, Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera, to build a new “escape experience” similar to Castaway Cay.

What Is The Name Of The New Disney Cruise Ship
We only know the name of one of the three new ships will be built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.
Disney Wish is one of the new Triton Class ships. It will be powered by liquefied natural gas , and be about 140,000-gross-tons in size. This makes it slightly larger than the Dream Class ships.
Disney Wish will accommodate among 4,000 passengers and have 1,250 cabins onboard.
Disney Wish was originally scheduled for delivery in late 2021 and was expected begin sailing in January 2022, but that has been delayed to an unknown date due to the current health crisis.
When the Disney Wish does debut, she will feature a three-story atrium themed to “Beauty and the Beast” film.
The aft of the ship will feature Rapunzel adorning her stern, along with her friend Pascal.
No other details about the other two new Disney cruise ships are known.

Where Will The New Disney Cruise Ships Sail
Aside from what the new Disney cruise ships will be like the other question that everyone wants the answer to is where will they sail. What new itineraries will the Disney cruise ship sail?
It is a lot of fun to speculate but at the moment we really dont know that much.
Lets start with what we do know.
The present itineraries are that the Disney Fantasy and the Dream both sail out of Port Canaveral and no other port.
The Dream does the three, four, and very occasional five-night Bahamian cruises. The Disney Fantasy sails mostly on seven-night cruises. These ships do not sail out of any other port.
The Disney Magic and the Wonder do a number of different itineraries. The Disney Wonder sails from Galveston, San Diego, New Orleans, and Vancouver.
The Disney Magic sails from Miami, Barcelona, Rome, Dover, Copenhagen, Dover, New York, and Quebec.
Port Canaveral CEO John Murray gave us a huge hint on 29th August 2018. He confirmed that he expects that the Disney cruise line will have at least two of the three ships in Port Canaveral.
At present Disney cruise lines have Terminal 8 at Port Canaveral. It is a very efficient cruise port, but it is also the smallest and the oldest at Port Canaveral.
However, there are going to be some significant changes to Port Canaveral in preparation for the arrival of the new Disney cruise ships.
Once the new Disney Wish is built it is highly likely that three Disney ships will be in Port Canaveral at the same time.
The Most Luxurious Disney Cruise Ship
Stepping inside, I was immediately struck by the luxurious feel of the ship, which was downright elegant while also clean and modern. This wasnt just nice for a cruise this was 4-star resort level, and a far cry from the drab wooden design elements Ive seen on other ships. Much of the time, I forgot I was on a cruise. The overall vibe gives Disneys higher-end hotel properties, like Disney Worlds Grand Floridian or Disneylands Grand Californian, a run for their money.
Disney Wish mixes a lot of different intellectual properties: Areas are themed to everything from Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast to a Star Wars bar, and Frozen dining. While the whole thing felt very Disney, it never once felt in my face. The Disney was in the details, with beloved elements from films tastefully woven into the thematic design of the ship. This new design philosophy was most vividly on display in the Grand Hall, the elegant centerpiece of the ship, with its atrium inspired by fairytale castles and Gothic architecture.

How Many Ships Does Disney Cruise Line Have

Last Friday, the world got a first look at the newest Disney Cruise Line ship when our beautiful Disney Wish completed a major milestone known as float out.
During this momentous event, the Disney Wish made a grand exit from the enclosed building dock where it has been constructed. And to say this was a wish come true for our teams at Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Cruise Line would be an understatement. We celebrated the occasion in true Disney style with fireworks, music and even a special appearance by Captain Minnie Mouse herself and today, I am so excited to share this special moment with you, too! Amazing, right? It actually took about five hours to flood the building dock, followed by a breathtaking 90-minute exit as the Disney Wish sailed out with only 3 feet of clearance on either side. Not only was this the debut of the completed exterior, but it was also the grand reveal of its signature stern characterat last, Rapunzel saw the light! and the first Disney attraction at sea, AquaMouse, towering over the upper decks.

Disney New Cruise Ship Restaurants
It is so exciting to think about what the Imagineers will design for the new Disney cruise ship restaurants. All of the existing ships have three rotational dining restaurants. It is safe to assume that the new ships will also have three restaurants and that the very successful rotational dining concept will remain.
All of the Disney cruise ships have Animators Palate restaurant so it will be interesting to see if the new ones do too. My guess would be that they will, but that they will introduce new technology to Animators Palate.
The Disney Wonder and Magic both have restaurants which are directly themed for a Disney Princess. The Disney Wonder has Tianas Place and the Magic has Rapunzels Royal Table.
Neither of these restaurants was on the classic ships when they were launched, but both have been extremely successful.
It is likely that we will see this strong theme towards one particular movie in the restaurants on the new Disney cruise ships. It would be great to see a Pixar themed restaurant.
Another strong possibility has to be a Star Wars-themed restaurant on the new Disney cruise ships. There are already Star Wars themed cruises and of course Star Wars Land will be with us in the Disney parks soon. If there isnt a full restaurant then at the very least there should be a Mos Eisley Cantina for the adults!
All of the existing ships have Palo and it is safe to assume that the new cruise ships will too.
What To Expect On The Disney Magic Cruise Ship
Disney Cruise Line currently operates four cruise ships: the Fantasy, Wonder, Dream, and Magic. Three new ships will be added, one each in 2021, 2022, and 2023. The Disney Magic is the fleets oldest ship, beginning its maiden voyage in July of 1998. Just because the Magic is the oldest ship, doesnt mean its the least fun. In fact, my family specifically chose to sail on the Magic for very specific reasons.

No Disney ship has ever sunk. One did suffer damage in 2008, when Disney Dream crashed into the pier due to not being positioned correctly to dock. The nearest Disney has come to a sunken ship is the loss of a boat on their Jungle Cruise ride at Magic Kingdom.

Will The New Disney Ships Be Delayed
There is some speculation that due to the current major downturn in the cruise industry, that building and subsequent launch of the Disney Wish will be delayed. Right now, everything is speculation.
Walt Disney Company CFO Christine McCarthy said during the Bank of America Virtual 2020:
The shipyard we utilize for our cruise ships, Meyer Werft, was impacted and we encountered a delay. We are in negotiations and discussions with the shipyard to finalize dates. But, as soon as we have those, well make an announcement when we expect the fifth ship, which is the first of the three, to be delivered. But, it is delayed from what we had originally anticipated.
There is now official word from Disney that the new Disney Wish will be launched in Summer 2022.
The Meyer Werft company has said in internal communications to its workforce, that they do not anticipate that there will be any new orders for 2023 and 2024 throughout the cruise industry.
To keep the company at work, they are said to be renegotiating existing deals with cruise companies that have orders for new ships. If this is so, this would most probably have included Disney and their order for the Wish and the next two ships.
Disney is in a much better position than many other cruise lines as it has very high demand, a loyal following, and only 4 ships, but it has been severely impacted.

What To Expect For Families
Finally, we chose to sail on the Disney Magic because our cruise was a family cruise. Not just our immediate family, but a multi-generational one at that! Disney Cruise Line has amazing amenities for guests of all ages. Its vital to check the daily Navigator to see all of the available activities for the day.
My familys favorite spots were the Goofy Pool, Buena Vista Theater, and the Walt Disney Theater. In the Buena Vista Theater, we were able to see first run Disney movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Walt Disney Theater is home to spectacular live shows like Tangled: The Musical, which was one of the best Broadway-style shows I had ever seen!
