Inexpensive Hotel W/free Shuttles To/from Airport And Cruise
My daughter and I are going on our first cruise in Aug. 2012. We need a nice but inexpensive hotel with free shuttles to and from the airport and to the cruise port. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you.
It would be unwise to choose a hotel based on it’s ability to provide free shuttles. Most hotels which do are far west of town and in pretty remote areas, IMO you would be better of picking a hotel on SE17th St close to the port. Taxis to and from the airport/port will not cost much.
Daughter and I stayed at Cambria Suites in Dania Beach In Dec. I paid $98.00 plus tax. We had a king suite which was very comfy and clean. There is a restaurant in the hotel with a limited menu of burgers, pasta dishes, etc. There is a nice little pool, too. The shuttles from the airport and to the cruiseport were free. We enjoyed our stay here. The only downside is that this hotel is not really near any stores and the walk to any other restaurant was too far for my daughter to walk to it. I just reserved the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Dania Beach they offer free shuttles to/from airport and to the cruise port. I used Hotwire and paid $76 per night the rate on the Marriott site is $129 per night. The hotel also includes free breakfast and free internet. I won’t know until I go, but based on reviews, etc I think I got a great deal.

Traveling To And From Fort Lauderdale Florida
Although the name is Port Everglades, the port is not part of the Everglades at all, but actually in Fort Lauderdale, on the southeastern coast of the Florida peninsula. There are a couple of airports nearby, so compare fares including transfer costs carefully to find the best deal.
When you fly into Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport you are close enough to the pier to see the ships in the distance! Its less than 10 miles. Taxis are lined up outside the doors of the baggage claim area and the cost is about $12 for up to five passengers, based on the meter reading. Shared van services will run from $8 pp to $12 pp.
Miami International Airport is a bit further away about 30 miles and a taxi can cost approximately $100. There are shared shuttle services for about $15pp.
For those of you driving to Port Everglades illuminated, security-patrolled parking garages are available and the cost is $15 per day.
