What Are The Different Cruise Lines

Princess Cruises Elegance At Sea

What are the different types of cabins on a cruise ship?

Passengers get the royal treatment when they sail on any of the more than 15 ships that make up the Princess Cruises fleet. These ships are somewhat upgraded from broader cruise lines, and offer more haute cuisine options and some of the traditional trappings of the golden age of cruising, such as more reserved dress codes.

Princess Cruises also prides itself for its enrichment programs, and offers an array of lectures, presentations, and talks about ports of call and topics of interest on all its ships, often tied to its extensive Discovery program. While passengers tend to be slightly older overall on Princess Cruises, there are still plenty of attractive and innovative options to appeal to younger cruisers.

Princess Cruises sails all over the world, offering diverse itineraries and often visiting ports of call that may be difficult to find on other cruise lines, while still visiting the most popular cruise travel hotspots.

What Are The Different Types Of Cruise Ships

There are many types of cruise ships available for any traveler. The ships vary depending on their passenger capacity and destination. Large, small, and mega cruise ships are attainable for intimate to extravagant cruise experiences. Ocean or river cruises are also available. Other types of cruises are for specific niches, such as remote destinations or ultimate luxury. There is a cruise ship experience available for everyone.

Mainstream cruise liners, also called large cruise ships, are the most popular and common type of cruise lines. These ships can hold 850 to 3,000 passengers. They are commonly referred to as floating resorts because of the various amenities and services. Most of them offer restaurants, arcades, and shopping. Casinos, libraries, and spas are also fairly standard features of mainstream cruises.

Luxury cruise liners are high-end vessels. They are designed for maximum comfort and entertainment. Luxury cruises cater to passengers who can afford to spend more on higher quality comforts, longer voyages, and more exotic destinations than more standard cruise lines.

Large Ship Line #: Disney Cruise Line

If theres one thing Disney Cruise Linedoes well, its hospitality. The company has taken every lesson its learned from its parks and resort operations and implemented that into its four cruise ships, the 2,400-passenger Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, and the 4,000-passenger Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. The ships are designed for families through and throughthere are numerous themed activities every day, from meet-and-greets to full-blown parties with Disney charactersbut there are plenty of adults-only areas that provide a respite from little ones. That said, the ships are not over-the-top when it comes to Disney decor. In fact, theyre quite elegant, taking design inspiration from early-20th-century ocean liners and sporting Art Deco and Art Nouveau aesthetics. The four ships currently sail the Caribbean , Alaska, Europe, the Pacific Coast, and the Panama Canal. Three more ships, including Disney Wish, are scheduled to be added to the fleet between 2022 and 2025.

Pcr Testing 96 Hours Prior To Departure

Costa Cruises further strengthens precautions on board its ships ...

Bermuda requires all guests entering the country by cruise ship to take a COVID-19 PCR test within 96-hours before their cruise. This test is on top of the other testing that Norwegian Cruise Line already requires and a letter has already been sent out with the details to travel agents and guests.

Once guests have taken the PCR test, they should register on the Bermuda Tourism website. The negative test result from the PCR test should be uploaded to the Bermuda Tourism website within 72 hours before sailing.

Thats not all though. When guests register, they are also required to pay $75 for each person in their travel party. Therefore, a family of four traveling together onboard Norwegian Breakaway will be required to pay an additional $300 to the Bermuda authorities.

Once registration and payments have been made, the submissions will be assessed. Once successful, guests will be issued a travel authority number, which passengers must present at the terminal before boarding.

Once guests arrive in the terminal, they will also get an Antigen test and be required to undergo a further PCR swab test inside the terminal as part of the Bermuda pre-arrival requirements. The results will then be processed by an outside lab the following day, and the results will be sent to the ship.

As The Cruise Came To An End Debarkation Day Lacked Custom Forms

Due to weather, the Carnival Vista arrived back in Galveston, Texas, more than an hour and a half later than its scheduled arrival time.

This caused a stressful debarkation process for cruisers trying to catch flights back home. I nearly missed my flight, and you could feel the frustration in the air as we stood in 90-degree heat waiting to get on a bus to the airport.

However, the disembarkation process went as usual: passengers were able to exit the ship based on their cabin location.

Guests were required to wear masks in the Galveston port area and on the shuttle bus to the airport, but they were quickly forgotten in the heat.

The other difference compared to pre-pandemic cruising was that every guest no longer needed to fill out a customs form. Instead, only those who had exceeded a spending amount had to declare and fill out forms.

Traveling With A Kid Under 7

If you are traveling with a small child under the age of seven, your cruise ship will look like a large floating playground to them. Between the ages of 2 and 6, children require room to explore, someone to play with, snacks, and naps. There are many popular cruise lines perfect for small children where kids can play games and get rid of their energy but then escape the crowds with a bit of solitude when they need it.

Making Cabins like Home

Cruises offer different cabins and you need to make a cabin feel familiar and cozy for kids. Young kids have the same types of anxieties that adults do when they travel but it can be difficult for them to express those fears. If your small child has a sleeping companion like a special blanket or a stuffed animal, make sure that you bring it. Pack a few extra things to make your state room look and feel more like home.

Shores and Swimming

For smaller children shore excursions might be appealing, but most of the time they focus on the pools. Sailing on ships that have swimming is great, especially if they have things like swimming alongside dolphins. Kids might greatly enjoy state rooms that have a small porthole so that they can look out in the evening and see you what is happening at the ocean level.

What Is The Difference Between A Cruise Ship And An Ocean Liner

What’s the difference between a cruise ship and an ocean liner?

It all comes down to their missions. Cruise ships and ocean liners might both be built to carry passengers, but their similarities end there.

    Ocean liners

An ocean liner is a passenger ship designed to take people from one point to another. For example, you would travel on an ocean liner to cross from England to the United States. With that in mind, its no surprise that ocean liners came before cruise ships, after all cruising for fun is a fairly recent trend.

These ships are built tough, as they may need to withstand all sorts of tumultuous weather conditions while travelling across the open ocean. Design features will include:

    • Hull: Built from a large amount of steel for strength.

    • Bow: Long and tapered to help them cut through waves

    • Draft: Deep for more stability

In fact, while a cruise ship will slow down in a storm, ocean liners are more likely to plow right through!

Unlike a cruise ship, where people happily relax for weeks at sea, ocean liners are built for speed. This means ocean liners will typically carry more fuel than cruise ships. The Queen Mary II is a great example of a modern ocean liner, and has 40% more steel in her structure than cruise ships.
